Privacy Policy Privacy Policy

USA N ME is committed to protecting the privacy and security of those individuals who visit and interact with our website. Outlined below is our online privacy policy for information collected through our website and e-mail lists. If you have questions about these policies, we encourage you to talk to us by email: legal@usanme.org.

Resale or disclosure of information to third parties:

USA N ME is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. We do not sell, share, rent, or otherwise disclose any personal information, including your name, address, or e-mail addresses with other organizations. Only USA N ME staff and our authorized agents have access to personally identifiable information provided by visitors to our site.

Browser information collected on our website:

As with any website operator, USA N ME partner organizations analyze our website logs to constantly improve the value of our website. We use an external service to provide real-time reporting to us and our authorized agents of browser accesses to our site. This reporting includes page views, unique views, unique visitors, repeat visitors, frequency of visits, and peak-volume traffic periods. We do not use this service to gather, request, record, require, collect or track any Internet users' personally identifiable information.

Personalization of Content:

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's hard drive containing information about the user. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information while on the USA N ME site. Once the user closes their browser, the cookie simply terminates. For instance, by setting a cookie on our site, the user will be able to access quiz results, or other interactive features made possible only through the implementation of cookies. If a user rejects the cookie, they may still use our site. The only drawback to this is that the user will be limited in some areas of our site. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our site, but again, this is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information.

Privacy of our e-mail lists:

USA N ME maintains several e-mail lists to keep our supporters, the press and policy makers informed about news and events. If a user wishes to subscribe to e-news, we ask for contact information such as name and email address. USA N ME may ask for additional information, such as content preferences. This information is used to contact the user/subscriber about the news for which they have expressed an interest. It is optional for the user/subscriber to provide demographic information (such as country, or zip code), but encouraged so that we can provide a more personalized and customized experience on the USA N ME site. Individuals who provide optional information may receive materials in the U.S. mail and/or be contacted by telephone by authorized USA N ME representatives.

In addition, we do not share the e-mail addresses on our lists with staff outside of USA N ME and our authorized agents. We configure our list server software to refuse to divulge the e-mail addresses of our list subscribers to anyone but authorized USA N ME staff and agents. Only USA N ME staff and our authorized agents have access to personally identifiable information provided by visitors to our site. To unsubscribe from the USA N ME email list click here.

Surveys & Quizzes:

From time-to-time USA N ME may request information from users via surveys or quizzes--generally as part of our continuing efforts to improve our organization. Participation in these surveys or quizzes is completely voluntary. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and postal address), and demographic information (such as zip code, age level). This information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving our organization.

Send-A-Friend & Postcards:

If a user elects to use our referral service for informing a friend about our site, we ask them for the friend's name and email address. USA N ME will automatically send the friend a one-time email inviting them to visit the site. USA N ME will store this information for the sole purpose of sending this one-time email. The friend may contact USA N ME at info@usanme.org to request the removal of this information from the database at any time.

COPPA and its accompanying FTC regulation establish United States federal law that protects the privacy of children using the Internet. We do not knowingly contact or collect personal information from children under 13. Our site is not intended to solicit information of any kind from children under 13, and we have designed our site to block our knowing acceptance of information from children under 13 whenever age-related information is requested. It is possible that by fraud or deception we may receive information pertaining to children under 13. If we are notified of this, as soon as we verify the notification, we will immediately obtain parental consent or otherwise delete the information from our servers. If you want to notify us of our receipt of information by children under 13, please do so by e-mailing us at: legal@usanme.org.
